  28. Following is a part of the manual for register users. Upon registration, LGI 
  29. will mail a complete manual, a certified copy of the program with extensions to the database, and make all future upgrades available to the user at no additional charge.

  34. Welcome to the Executive Editor. EE provides you with a text file manager 
  35. (or large field database or textbase), a text editor that supports some 
  36. 50 editing commands (many of which are similar to WORDSTAR and SIDEKICK), 
  37. export/import in ASCII format, and multiple window - multiple file editing.
  38. EE requires 256K RAM and  hard disk.
  39.  
  40. EE is not intended as a replacement for your word processor (though it has 
  41. more text handling capabilities than some), nor is it intended as a 
  42. replacement for your database (though many databases would like to  handle 
  43. 64K fields!). 
  44.  
  45. EE was written for it's programmer's own use, that is as a front end to a 
  46. desktop publisher, and as a convenient storage facility for drafts and notes.
  47. Along the way to completing the program it was discovered that it is an 
  48. ideal batch file editor, a handy researcher's notebook, 
  49. and a perfect add-on to most laptop computers.

  51. The League Group, Inc. hopes that you find EE to be as helpful as did we. 
  52. We invite any registered user's comments or questions. Our support policy is 
  53. simple:

  55. If the original registered user has a problem, call 1-407-679-3622 and we 
  56. will answer any questions. Have your disk serial number available along 
  57. with the make and model of your computer and moniter.

  59. If we find that there is a "bug", we will fix it and update all registered 
  60. users.

  62. If we write an "upgrade", we will notify all registered users and make the 
  63. upgrade disk(s) available to registered users at no charge.

  67. This is a copyrighted product. It is sold with the expectation that it will 
  68. be installed on one non-networked personal computer. Like a book, it is 
  69. intended for one user at a time. It is not to be copied for distribution 
  70. either for compensation or for free. You may however make such back up 
  71. copies as are necessary for your personal use. We are gratified when people 
  72. like our products enough to want their friends to have them, but that 
  73. gratification falls far short of supporting a full-time programming 
  74. effort. We feel that we have priced this product fairly - so - if you want someone to have a copy (your secretary, for instance), spring for the $20.00.

  76. The warranty to REGISTERED users is also simple:

  78. If you find that you don't like the product, return it with all documentation and a written explanation of why within fifteen days of purchase, and we'll 
  79. refund your money.

  83. This warranty does not extend to loss of time or profit, nor does it extend 
  84. to any incidental damage that might be attributed to use of this product.

  89. INSTALLATION OF THE EXECUTIVE EDITOR

  92. Place the Distribution Disk in drive A: 
  93. From the directory where you want Executive Editor to operate, at the DOS prompt, 
  94.     Type: Copy A:*.*
  95. Start EE by typing at the DOS prompt: ExEd
  96.  
  97. That's it!

  101. USING  THE EXECUTIVE EDITOR
  102.

  105. From the title screen, press any key to call up the main menu. You may use 
  106. the up and down arrow keys to select an option and execute that option with 
  107. the Enter key or you may type the first letter of the option.
  108.  
  109. Editor call up the editor portion of EE, and initializes the database.
  110. Quit closes the database and exits to DOS.
  111. Search is a limited database search facility.
  112. DOS Shell allows you to leave EE temporarily and return without rebooting.
  113. Utilities provide you with some database statistics and with a recovery 
  114. facility should your database become corrupted.
  115.  
  116. THE EDITOR
  117. Upon selection of Editor, you will be presented with a screen requesting the 
  118. name of the file to work on. If you do not know the file name, press Enter 
  119. and a list of all files in the database will be displayed. If you want to 
  120. create a new file, simply type in a new name. If you want to work on an old 
  121. file, type in that file's name.
  122.  
  123. Upon completion of editing, press F10 to file the text in the database and 
  124. return to the menu. If you do not wish to save the edited text, press ESC.
  125. To save the text in a file on disk other than the database, press F2 and it 
  126. will be filed in ASCII format under the same name as your entry in the database. 
  127. You may also save a part of a text file to disk via the block commands. 
  128.  
  129. F1 will call up a full help file and command menu.
  130.  
  131. Editor files may be up to 64K in length.
